Crane Offload Delivery Guide

Like many companies specialising in heavy materials, we use our own dedicated crane lorry for deliveries where possible and practical. These deliveries are made using a lorry equipped with a powerful crane that has an 8-metre reach. This often allows us to park on the road and offload onto your property, even if direct vehicle access is not possible.

However, due to the vehicle’s size, it is not always possible to enter narrow driveways or navigate tight turns. To plan the best and safest offload method, the Client must inform Forest Stone of their property access prior to delivery. Failure to do so may result in a failed delivery attempt, and the Client will be liable for any re-delivery charges.

Important Vehicle Dimensions: Our crane lorry is: 11.3m long, 2.5m wide, and 2.5m high. Please use these dimensions to assess your access.

If you have a wide, solid entrance with a clear turning area, we may be able to enter the driveway and offload accordingly. However, the driver’s assessment of safety and feasibility on the day is final.

If during a Forest Stone delivery a delivery vehicle has to move onto a Client’s land, Forest Stone is not responsible for any damage that may occur to that Client’s property as a result of the delivery or the products being delivered. The Client accepts full responsibility for any resulting damage or issues caused by a delivery on their property.

Here’s a little summary of the main points to remember when receiving a crane delivery:

  • Vehicle Access: Our lorry is large at 11.3m long, 2.5m wide. We cannot guarantee access to narrow or steep driveways. The 8m crane reach often allows us to offload from the roadside. You must inform us about your property access (width, gradients, obstacles, overhead wires) before delivery so we can advise on feasibility.
  • Offload Area: We require a clear, level area within the crane’s reach to place materials. The driver will confirm the exact drop point on arrival.
  • If a delivery attempt fails due to the client not providing accurate access information, you will be liable for re-delivery charges.
  • Please check your delivery and report any damage to your products within 48 hours of receipt. If damage is reported outside of this window, the items may not be insured, and replacements could be at additional cost to you.
