Our Romsey Cathedral paving is a beautifully refined natural limestone that combines timeless character with a contemporary aesthetic. This elegant stone features a mottled warm brown base with subtle hints of grey, richly textured with an abundance of natural fossils and intricate mottled details that add depth and interest to every slab.
Unlike its rustic counterpart, Romsey Heritage, this stone is finished with a honed surface that is then gently tumbled. The honing creates a smooth, flat finish that feels sleek and comfortable underfoot, while the tumbling softly rounds the edges for a subtle heritage touch. The result is a stone that retains all its natural fossil character but with a cleaner, more contemporary feel—perfect for those who appreciate the beauty of natural stone but prefer a less textured surface.
Imported directly from Egypt, Romsey Cathedral shares the exceptional durability of our other limestones. It is a hard-wearing, fairly water-resistant stone with low porosity, making it easy to clean and a practical choice for the UK climate. While incredibly robust, as a natural limestone, it is sensitive to acidic substances and its surface colour will soften over time unless regularly treated with a quality suitable stone sealant.
Supplied in large, 900×600 slabs at 20mm thick, this paving is designed to create beautiful, versatile outdoor spaces. It can also be used inside the home as an interior flooring tile where a blend of character and refinement is desired. The warm, earthy tones and smooth, honed finish of Romsey Cathedral make it an ideal choice for both traditional and contemporary settings—from elegant country gardens to modern urban courtyards. It’s also beautiful to walk on with bare feet if you like that kind of thing (we do)!
