One project that perfectly encapsulates this trend is a stunning modern inside outside garden designed by Joe Savage of Joe Savage Landscape Design, featuring Forest Stone’s premium porcelain paving. By using the same Ipley porcelain tiles (80x80cm) both inside and outside, this build achieves a seamless transition from a zinc-clad kitchen extension to a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and dining space.

If you’re working with a small garden, you might think your options are limited—no boundless lawns, no grand patios, no space for that dream garden room. But with smart design, the right materials, and a few clever tricks, even the tiniest outdoor space can feel luxurious, functional, and surprisingly spacious.

When the new owners of this New Forest property moved in, they knew their garden needed serious attention. What they inherited was a cramped patio with poor-quality concrete slabs, a makeshift path made of Celotex (yes, really!), and an overall space that felt neglected and impractical. Their vision? A stylish, low-maintenance outdoor area they could enjoy every single day—rain or shine.

At Forest Stone, we recently had the pleasure of supplying materials for a stunning Mediterranean-style garden designed and built by the talented team at Smith and Gorman. Located in Southampton, this project is a masterclass in how to blend hard landscaping, natural stone, and drought-tolerant planting to create a space that feels like a holiday retreat.
